This course can be used as:

  • a self-assessment program that potential expatriates can take to decide if moving to Italy will work for them and their families
  • a full cross-cultural course that offers expats and business leaders information they need to understand in order to succeed in Italy
So --
  • Have you been summoned to live in the Bel Paese by a job offer you cannot refuse?
  • Are you considering giving in to the charm of Italy and plan to relocate there?
  • Do you have business opportunities that require you to deal with Italians?

Whatever the reasons that bring you to cross paths with Italy and its people, you will need to learn more about the place and its inner workings to reap the maximum benefits from this interaction, while keeping the distress of experiencing the dark side of this foreign culture to a minimum.

Most things you will learn on the go, but being prepared earlier on to avoid pitfalls often associated with the crossing of cultures and starting on a right footing calls for an ad hoc introduction that only a native can provide; this is where my help comes handy.

My name is Patrizia Figoli Turchetti, I was born in the south of Italy but I grew up, was educated and worked in the north, experiencing first hand the complexity of the multi-faceted Italian culture. My work experience as an employee and then as an entrepreneur in Italy, taught me how to deal with various aspects of working and doing business in this complex country. Later on I embarked on a path that brought me outside of the country and in close contact with many different realities, both culturally and business wise (Europe, Africa and the Americas); all of which have contributed significantly to broadening my horizons at many different levels. I keep reaching for the stars as my life on the move keeps unfolding. I am currently located in the United States.

Therefore I bring to you a wide gamut of knowledge and insights on adapting and flourishing in a new country- especially my own. I have an understanding of Italy as an insider as well as an outsider.

As founder of Paguro, the online home for the expatriate community, I have at heart the success of any expatriation, which I feel starts well before having set foot on foreign soil. A successful expatriation -- as well as a successful business deal -- begins with the right attitude, which can only develop with the right knowledge and preparation.

The scope of this course and my mission is making sure you have in your survival kit the necessary tools to be successful and happy in Italy; this means the full understanding of Italian mentality and business culture in relation to you.

As a native Italian with a longstanding overseas experience I feel it comes natural to me to adapt and tailor my introduction to living and working in Italy to your specific background and experience.  Thanks to Margarita Gokun Silver enlightening vision I am glad to contribute my knowledge, experience and cultural upbringing to her rigorous course structure and present to you the course Welcome to Living and Working in Italy.

You, (and not only you) will greatly benefit by taking this course which:

  • provides you with a foundation of what Italy is all about;
  • helps you understand the gap between your way of thinking and that of the Italians;
  • equips you with extensive tools to negotiate the difference;
  • teaches you using a mixed approach which blends cross-cultural information with a coaching method to secure your understanding and your success in any culture.

WE OFTEN GET ASKED: why would I buy this course when I can find information on the internet for free?

Two reasons:

I. If you simply want to learn about the do's and don'ts of the country, you can, in fact, buy a book or search through a variety of internet resources.

However, if

…you want to know how to successfully interact with people…

…you want to learn what motivates them…

…you want to learn how to manage them effectively…

…you want to learn how to communicate and how not to communicate…

You need to know their prevalent cultural blueprint, as well as your own one!  Both will become clear to you as you test yourself through our course's 11 cultural variables and then compare your score with that of the country you are going to.

This depth of information is not available on the internet.

II. Once you establish which one is your cultural blueprint and learn about that of the Italians AND you compare the two… you will discover gaps.

Our course teaches you how to negotiate those gaps through using Culture Mastery process based on:

- the co-active coaching model

- the neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) tools

- the systems and relationship approach

You won't find that on the internet either.

This is a wealth of information!  And it’s available to you anytime, anywhere at a fraction of the cost.

Cross-Cultural training is usually expensive — it can run anywhere between $500 and $2000 dollars — and that’s why most of the time your company would have to provide it.  Yet companies often decide to economize on this part of the expatriate experience and very few expats get the benefit of a real cross-cultural training.

Business travelers and companies doing business in Italy almost never get the benefit of a cross-cultural training.  Yet this training is essential to their success.

That's why we have created this online course and that's why we are making it affordable.  The training we are offering you on-line is available for $199.  This includes FREE short e-mail consultations with the course creators in the first 30 days after purchasing the course.
