This course can be used as:

  • a self-assessment program that potential expatriates can take to decide if moving to the UK will work for them and their families
  • a full cross-cultural course that offers expats and business leaders information they need to understand in order to succeed in the UK

So are you...

  • Considering relocation to the UK?
  • Preparing for a move or a business trip to the UK?
  • Already living in the UK but finding aspects of the UK culture surprisingly challenging?

The UK is a small island with a big international presence. London, alongside New York is one of the worlds’ largest financial centres and has the largest number of international visitors of any city in the world.

Comprised of four countries and home to over two hundred different nationalities the UK has a truly international representation. And with this in mind I invite you to develop your understanding of the country that resides beneath this international profile.

What are the cultural norms, beliefs and values of the typical person from the UK? This programme provides a general overview and useful insights. These are offered as a starting point for your personal cultural discovery.

Understanding a national culture has been described as being a bit like peeling an onion, you reveal one layer only to discover another. Part of that discovery involves understanding your own cultural origins, beliefs and values, reflecting on the similarities and differences and developing strategies for bridging or negotiating the gaps. This course will help you do exactly that.

My name is Louise Wiles and I am British, English in fact. I have lived abroad for most of the last 14 years and am currently living in Portugal. Through my business, Success Abroad Coaching, I provide support to people relocating, helping them to overcome the challenges of relocation enabling them to build successful and happy lives in their new locations.

Arriving in a new country is always exciting but at the same time disorientating. I know from personal experience. I also know that it can take time to develop an understanding and appreciation for the new culture.  Success abroad is facilitated through developing appropriate coping strategies and cultural intelligence and this is why I have joined forces with Margarita Gokun Silver from the Global Coach Center to offer this course on Living and Working in the UK -- the course that:

•    provides you with a foundation of what the UK is all about
•    through the Culture Mastery Process helps you understand the gap between your way of thinking and that of the majority of people of the UK
•    equips you with extensive tools to negotiate the difference
•    blends cross-cultural information with a coaching approach to understanding and becoming successful in any culture.

I am convinced that every expat, every business traveler, and every international business will benefit from cross cultural training, but for various reasons not all can have effective in-person training. And that’s why we decided to make “LIVING AND WORKING IN THE UK” available on line.

So whether you are living in the UK, preparing to move there, take business trips, or work with colleagues in the UK — you can take LIVING AND WORKING IN THE UK course and know what awaits you and how to deal with it.

WE OFTEN GET ASKED: why would I buy this course if I can find information on the internet for free?

Two reasons:

I. If you simply want to learn about the do's and don'ts of the country, you can, in fact, buy a book or search through a variety of internet resources.  However, if want to know how to successfully interact with people want to learn what motivates them want to learn how to manage them effectively, want to know how to communicate and how not to communicate,

you'll need to know their prevalent cultural blueprint as well as your own!  Both will become clear to you as you test yourself through our Culture Mastery Module's 11 cultural variables and then compare your score with that of the country you are going to.

This depth of information isn't available on the internet.

II.  Once you know your cultural blueprint and their cultural blueprint -- and once you compare the two -- you will discover gaps.  Our course teaches you how to negotiate those gaps with the use of Culture Mastery process that includes:

•    the co-active coaching model
•    the neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) tools
•    the systems and relationship approach

You won't find that on the internet either.

Cross-Cultural training is usually expensive — it can run anywhere between $500 and $2000 dollars — and that’s why most of the time your company would have to provide it.  Yet companies often decide to economize on this part of the expatriate experience and very few expats get the benefit of a real cross-cultural training.

Business travelers and companies doing business in the UK almost never get the benefit of a cross-cultural training.  Yet this training is essential to their success.

That's why we have created this online course and that's why we are making it affordable.  The training we are offering you on-line is available for $199.  This includes FREE short e-mail consultations with the course creators in the first 30 days after purchasing the course.
