This course can be used as:

  • a self-assessment program that potential expatriates can take to decide if moving to Germany will work for them and their families
  • a full cross-cultural course that offers expats and business leaders information they need to understand in order to succeed in Germany

I was born into a family of expats – they called themselves expellees or deportees: They had to leave the German parts of what is now the Czech Republic in 1945. In my childhood I was surrounded by homesick people. Although they came from the same cultural background, they nevertheless missed family, traditions, friends and the comfort of the well-known. They had to adjust to the traditions of another country, find new ones, establish new friendships, and keep in touch with family members and make a living in an unfamiliar context.

With 21, I left my native country Austria and moved with my husband to Germany. Again I stayed in the same but still so different cultural background. Adjustment was not always easy. Later we moved to England, Brazil and Russia. There I began to see my culture with different eyes. Also I realized that some people have almost no problems enjoying life and being successful in a culture which is foreign and often confusing to them, while others suffered.

Those who came to the country with a foundation of a cross-cultural training could handle stress and frustrations better than those who came without it.  Having the benefit of truly knowing German culture and also seeing it from the point of view of an outsider, made me realize that I could help expatriates and people doing business with Germany to undrestand the German way quickly and with minimum pain.

This is why I joined forces with Margarita Gokun Silver from the Global Coach Center and together we created a “WELCOME TO LIVING AND WORKING IN GERMANY” course — the course that:

  • provides you with a foundation of what Germany is all about;
  • helps you understand the gap between your way of thinking and the German way of thinking;
  • provides extensive tools to negotiate the difference; and
  • blends cross-cultural information with a coaching approach to understanding and becoming successful in any culture.

I am convinced that every expat, every business traveler, and every international business will benefit from cross cultural training, but for various reasons not all can have effective in-person training. And that’s why we decided to make “WELCOME TO LIVING AND WORKING IN GERMANY” available on line.

So whether you are living in Germany, preparing to move there, take business trips, or work with German colleagues — you can take “WELCOME TO LIVING AND WORKING IN GERMANY” course and know what awaits you and how to deal with it.

WE OFTEN GET ASKED: why would I buy this course if I can find information on the internet for free?

Two reasons:

I. If you simply want to learn about the do's and don'ts of the country, you can, in fact, buy a book or search through a variety of internet resources.  However, if you want to know how to successfully interact with people; if you want to learn what motivates them; if you want to learn how to manage them effectively; if you want to learn how to communicate and how not to communicate -- you need to know their prevalent cultural blueprint. And you need to know your own cultural blueprint.

Both will become clear to you as you test yourself through our course's 11 cultural variables and then compare your score with that of the country you are going to.  This is the kind of information that's not available on the internet.

II.  Once you know your cultural blueprint and their cultural blueprint -- and once you compare the two -- you will discover gaps.  Our course teaches you how to negotiate those gaps with the use of Culture Mastery Process that's based on:

  • the co-active coaching model
  • the neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) tools
  • the systems and relationship approach
You won't find that on the internet either.

This “WELCOME TO GERMANY” course consists of eight (8) chapters of information, a video file, and two audio podcasts:

  • Audio 1 and Chapter 1:  Managing Culture Shock

A unique approach to handling Culture Shock in any situation.  Three handy tools to carry with you whenever you move and go through another transition.

  • Chapter 2/Video: German National Culture

A video-presentation featuring photos from all over German, accompanied by a recording that will tell you about the National Culture of Germany.

  • Chapter 3: German proverbs

Country’s proverbs can tell a lot about the country.  This chapter contains proverbs that will help you understand Germany.

  • Chapter 4: German Corporate Culture

  • Chapter 5: Culture Mastery -- Your Cultural Blueprint

Learn about your own cultural preferences.  How do you compare to the Germany within the eleven (11) cultural variables?

  • Chapter 6: The German Cultural Blueprint

Learn about the German cultural variables.  How wide is the gap between you and them?

  • Chapter 7: Culture Mastery -- Adjusting Your Cultural Habits

Manage the gap you discovered in the previous chapter.  Enjoy the variety of coaching and training exercises to close the gap and, thus, become more effective in Germany.

  • Chapter 8: Culture Mastery -- Cultural Negotiation and Alliances

A very special chapter — with the information you won’t find anywhere else.

This is a wealth of information! And it’s available to you anytime, anywhere and for the fraction of the cost.

Cross-Cultural training is usually expensive — it can run anywhere between $500 and $2000 dollars — and that’s why most of the time your company would have to provide it.  Yet companies often decide to economize on this part of the expatriate expense and very few expats get the benefit of a real cross-cultural training.

Business travelers and companies doing business in Germany almost never get the benefit of a cross-cultural training.  Yet this training is essential to their success.

That's why we have created this online course and that's why we are making it affordable.  The training we are offering you on-line is available for $199.  This includes FREE short e-mail consultations with the course creators in the first 30 days after purchasing the course.

There will always be people who like the person-to-person interaction and I want to make it available. So for the remainder of this year — that is until December 31 — I will offer one (1) hour of personal cross-cultural training follow-up to anyone who purchased an on-line course for only $200 more.

Normally I charge $400 per hour for this kind of training, but to celebrate the release of this course on-line, I am making this hour available to you for only $200.

And you don’t have to buy it right away. You can buy the on-line course and you can then decide whether or not you’d like to get the additional coaching hour and discuss the results with me. And as long as you schedule and pay for that additional session before December 31 you get this promotional price of $200 for an hour.

It doesn’t get better than that.
